Pond Management Workshop Sept. 30 in Kopperl - AgriLife Today

The Texas AgriLife Extension Service offices in Bosque, Johnson, Somervell and McLennan counties will host a Pond Management Workshop on Sept. 30.

The field day workshop will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Cross J Ranch, located at 18765 Farm-to-Market Road 56 in Kopperl. Signs will be posted.

The cost is $30, payable at the door. Onsite registration will be from 8:30-9 a.m. Lunch will be provided.

For more information, call the AgriLife Extension office in Bosque County at 254-435-2331. Participants needing special accommodations for the field day should contact the office at least 72 hours prior to event.

Pond experts, field day topics

The expert speakers for the field day are Brittany Chesser, AgriLife Extension aquatic vegetation program specialist in the Texas A&M Department of Rangeland, Wildlife and Fisheries Management, Bryan-College Station; Todd Sink, Ph.D., AgriLife Extension aquaculture specialist and director of the AgriLife Extension Aquatic Diagnostics Lab, Bryan-College Station; and Garrett Norman, Lochow Ranch Lake and Pond Management logistics manager, Bryan.

They will be covering the following topics:
• Pond construction.
• Pond maintenance.
• Maintaining and ensuring water quality.
• Fish management.
• Aquatic food webs.
• Aquatic vegetation identification and management.
