Games Workshop Pre-Orders: 'Pricing & Links' - Wyrdhollow And World Eaters - BoLS

Games Workshop has a new Underworlds boxed set up for Pre-order along with the World Eaters Combat Patrol!

via Games Workshop

Warhammer Underworlds: Wyrdhollow $95

Magic courses through the root-lined halls of the Wyrdhollow, deep beneath the carnivorous Gnarlwood forest. The hellish creatures that make up Ephilim’s Pandaemonium seek to harness these arcane energies, and only Domitan’s Stormcoven of knightly war-mages stands in their way. Fight through the warped caverns to secure the Wyrdhollow’s eldritch power for yourself.

The ultimate competitive miniatures game dives deeper into the Gnarlwood with the Warhammer Underworlds: Wyrdhollow Core Set. This box is stuffed with everything you need to start playing, including two complete warbands, four decks of cards, dice, tokens, boards, and more.

Warhammer Underworlds is a deck-based strategy game of skirmish battles set in Warhammer Age of Sigmar’s Mortal Realms. It’s full of action, clever combinations and tricks, and fast-paced gameplay. You’ll be able to get started right away with the four complete 32-card Rivals decks included in the box – one for Domitan’s Stormcoven, one for Ephilim’s Pandaemonium, and two universal Rivals decks for any warband. If you wish, you can even tailor your own deck using universal cards from other Warhammer Underworlds expansions for near-endless strategic depth.

This set contains:

– A complete and concise rulebook for Warhammer Underworlds – reformatted to make getting started even easier. Wyrdhollow places emphasis on Rivals decks, offering new ways to mix up your games and keep things fresh and balanced. The riveting background material explores the arcane caverns beneath the Gnarlwood, and the ancient relics scattered therein

– The complete Ephilim’s Pandaemonium warband. A genderless conjurer sworn to Tzeentch, Ephilim clutches magical items and spells in their many slender limbs, accompanied by a host of bizarre daemon familiars unlike anything the Mortal Realms have seen before. Quickly assemble your warband with five push-fit models, cast in blue-grey to stand out even when unpainted, complete with fighter cards and a full Rivals deck

– The complete Domitan’s Stormcoven warband. A group of Stormcast Eternal battle mages led by Domitan, these Knights-Arcanum are each a distinctive and powerful warrior in their own right. With three push-fit models in a vibrant blue colour, plus fighter cards and a pre-made Rivals deck, you’ll be ready to battle straight away.

– 2 additional universal Rivals decks, usable by any warband – harness geomantic power and shake the land itself with Seismic Shock, and wield magical venoms and wicked concoctions with Toxic Terrors.

– 2 double-sided game boards to represent the sinister root-ridden caverns beneath the Gnarlwood

– Warhammer Underworlds tokens, including objectives, wound markers, glory points, and many, many more

– 11 dice – 5 Attack dice, 3 Defence dice and 3 Magic dice, enough for the most devastating blows, desperate defences, and cataclysmic spells

Wyrdhollow is perfect for getting new players started faster than ever with the streamlined rulebook and additional Rivals decks, and is perfect for bringing Warhammer Underworlds veterans up to date for the new season.

This box contains push-fit miniatures, which are supplied unpainted and require assembly – we recommend using Citadel Colour paints.

Combat Patrol: World Eaters $160

Scions of their Primarch Angron, Daemon Prince of Khorne, the World Eaters were amongst the most feared of the Space Marines Legions to turn traitor during the brutal civil war known as the Horus Heresy. The World Eaters long held a reputation for wanton savagery, and as they fell to the powers of Chaos, they devolved into warbands of blood-crazed maniacs dedicated to the Taker of Skulls, glorying in violence and slaughter, and with no other purpose than spilling blood in their deity’s name.

Take skulls for the Skull Throne with Combat Patrol: World Eaters! This boxed set provides you with all the units you need to start your army or expand an existing collection. The contents have been chosen to provide you with a ferocious core for any World Eaters force, ideal for Combat Patrol-sized games and will also save you money compared to buying the contents individually.

This set includes the following multipart plastic models:
– 1x World Eaters Lord on Juggernaut, which can alternatively be built as Lord Invocatus
– 10x Jakhals
– 20x Khorne Berzerkers
– 2x World Eaters Transfer Sheets, each containing 200 transfers

All models are supplied with their appropriate bases. These miniatures are supplied unpainted and require assembly – we recommend using Citadel Plastic Glue and Citadel Colour paints.

Right to repair: Now get your car/bike repaired from local workshop without losing warranty - Times of India

How many times have you taken your car or two-wheeler to the authorised service centre and had to pay labour charges even for the smallest of repair or adjustment? We usually make these efforts to protect our vehicle’s warranty that manufacturers are happy to void for even the smallest of discrepancy. Well, that could soon be in the past as the Department of Consumer Affairs has now launched the ‘Right to Repair’ initiative and portal, which protects your vehicle’s warranty even if you have got repairs made at a third-party workshop.
    1

The portal is currently live and two-wheeler manufacturers such as Hero MotoCorp and Honda Motorcycles and Scooters have already come onboard. It will also act as resource for self-repair manuals and feature authorised third-party repair party details. While the Right to Repair will democratise your vehicle maintenance from the first day of ownership, it would also require manufacturers to share proper repair information and manuals with third-party workers. Diagnostic tools and spare parts will also become more accessible to consumers and workshops. What remains to be seen, is if the manufacturers will see Right to Repair as an obstacle or an opportunity to increase goods production.

MG Comet EV Review | India's most affordable electric car! | TOI Auto

Currently, the Department of Consumer Affairs is working towards onboarding as many manufacturers as possible. While Right to Repair is certainly a step in the right direction, it will not become mainstream overnight. Overall, the Right to Repair covers four major sector such as electronic, consumer durables, automobiles equipment and farming equipment.
    2

This also means that your personal devices and home appliances will now be protected under the Right to Repair scheme. Samsung, Apple, Havells, Hewlett-Packard, LG, Panasonic, Oppo and several other electronics brands are already onboard the portal.
Could the ‘Right to Repair’ become a selling factor during your next vehicle purchase? Tell us in the comments.

Workshop on HPC in seismic imaging by C-DAC Pune on April 28 - Hindustan Times

    Apr 28, 2023 12:17 AM IST

The aim of the workshop is to discuss seismic imaging related techniques and gather HPC requirements for the E&P sector

The Seismic Data Processing (SDP) group at C-DAC Pune is organising a workshop on “HPC in seismic imaging - Seeing Below the Earth’s Surface” on April 28 in Pune. The aim of the workshop is to discuss seismic imaging related techniques and gather HPC requirements for the E&P sector.

The Seismic Data Processing (SDP) group at C-DAC Pune is organising a workshop on “HPC in seismic imaging - Seeing Below the Earth’s Surface” on April 28 in Pune (REPRESENTATIVE IMAGE)

“In this workshop C-DAC’s work in seismic imaging domain, HPC infrastructure built under National Supercomputing Mission (NSM), upcoming exascale infrastructure plan etc. will be showcased. Experts will talk on seismic imaging, inversion and various other topics followed by a panel discussion by eminent speakers from Oil Industry, Research Institutes, Academia and CDAC,” said E Mangesh, director general C-DAC.

“The objective of this workshop is to bring together experts from oil and gas companies, institutions, and academia to share their knowledge,” he added.

“Oil and gas are the key elements in energy generation and transportation. Governments and companies all over the globe, must first find out where they can locate reserves of oil and gas in land and marine environment. Seismic exploration surveys are carried out to collect data in search for oil and gas reservoirs. The recorded seismic data is then processed to create earth’s subsurface image. These images are essential for making decisions about the drilling locations of hydrocarbons. Reverse Time Migration known as RTM is currently one of the most effective methods to image the subsurface structures using seismic data. Presently, non-availability of indigenous RTM software and expensive licence fees have triggered the need for developing it within our country,” said Col A K Nath (Retd.) Executive Director, C-DAC Pune.

Design workshops slated for Glenwood Resource Center redevelopment - KMAland

(Glenwood) -- The public is invited to attend a series of workshops this week regarding redeveloping the Glenwood Resource Center following its closure in 2024.

HDR, Incorporated out of Omaha, the consultant hired by the Iowa Economic Development Authority to guide the "re-imagining" of the 380-acre GRC facility, is hosting the series of workshops today (Monday) through Thursday from 5:30-7:00 p.m. at the Meyers Building gymnasium on the GRC campus. Mills County Economic Development Director Andrew Rainbolt tells KMA News the re-design workshops will help contribute to a consensus-driven master plan in determining the facility's future.

"(HDR) has done a marketing assessment and we've got a steering committee that's been put together and gone through some visioning," said Rainbolt. "They've got a lot of input on the infrastructure, financing, and the political world -- we've done a lot of assessment there already. This is the time for the public to come out and give their input, vision, or ideas of what the campus can be."

Rainbolt adds the hope is to find several public uses that also preserve the over century-long presence the structures have had in the community. He says those attending the meeting can expect a review of the ongoing efforts before officials begin seeking public input.

"We'll get an overview of what's been happening so far and then we'll break out into smaller groups -- each of which will have their own either architect, designer, or maybe landscape architect," Rainbolt explained. "They'll have their own small group they can give their input to and the process will repeat itself over the course of this week."

Rainbolt says the designers plan to review the public input following each meeting. Ultimately, they hope the master plan can provide a visualization of what the campus looks like beyond 2024. While Glenwood School District officials are hopeful to be able to use some of the existing facilities, Rainbolt says many ideas are still very "high level," and several questions remain regarding the redevelopment of the property.

"There'll be some kind of phasing that comes out of it where we say, we can do a couple of buildings at a time that are redeveloped or maybe the infrastructure -- which is going to be a big issue," he said. "The infrastructure that serves those buildings, a lot of it is very old, and the campus is not set up to have individual metering of buildings which is something you would need to have for private investments so people can pay those bills."

He adds they are still in the early stages of what will be an extensive process. For additional project information, visit the project website at millscountyiowa.com/glenwood-resource-center-redevelopment-planning or send questions to connect@grcredevelopment.com.

Columbia community gardening group hosts workshop for Earth Day - KOMU 8

COLUMBIA — Community Garden Coalition (CGC) celebrated Earth Day and its 40th anniversary Saturday by offering a gardening workshop at Friendship Community Garden.

Founded in 1983, the all-volunteer nonprofit has grown to include 12 neighborhood gardens and 20 group gardens. What began as an endeavor to help four food-insecure individuals get adequate nutrition has become a community of more than a thousand people.

Bill McKelvey has been a volunteer and CGC treasurer since 2006.

“Thinking back over the 17 years [that I was involved], I think the group has done a good job of staying really focused on its mission,” McKelvey said.

The group provides support, supplies and garden plots to community gardeners, according to the coalition’s website.

“Being able to have that spot in the community garden meant that my kids could grow up in a garden before we even had property,” Lindsey Smith, a coalition board member and gardener, said.

Although she now tends a plot at Friendship Community Garden, which is located at 1707 Smiley Ln. in Columbia, Smith started at the Windsor Street Garden 12 years ago. She moved to the Friendship Community Garden after the Windsor Street location closed in 2013 for development.

Most community gardens make use of underutilized and unused spaces, according to the coalition board members.

One of those gardens, Unite 4 Health Community Garden, is located off the side of a parking lot at 1005 W. Worley St.

Gardening Leader Cheryl Jensen recalls when she started there in 2011, “at least half of the gardens [in this area] were completely overgrown with Bermuda grass and weeds.”

Jensen said she worked hard to make it available to community members.

“It’s a lovely little garden of Eden,” CGC president Kathy Doisy said. Dosiy noted it is the only CGC garden that is handicapped accessible.

Life-long gardener Kathy Heddinghaus, now retired, has spent about a year at Unite 4 Health Community Garden.

Heddinghaus said she’s grateful for the opportunity to continue gardening.

“At my age right now, I’m looking for something that will lighten the load a little bit,” Heddinghaus said.

The group works collaboratively to upkeep the gardens and bring people of all backgrounds together, according to Jensen.

“It’s a huge range [of people] from single moms on low incomes, raising children to older, retired people like me,” Jensen said.

She noted some young professionals are also part of the CGC community.

“I would love it if more groups had an interest,” McKelvey said. “If more organizations or other types of entities that own property also had an interest. … There’s just a lot of benefits that can come from having more gardens and more community around those gardens.”

CGC will have more events to celebrate its anniversary. For more information about future workshops and presentations, click here.

101 Field Workshop praised for sterling vehicle repair work - defenceWeb

Proof positive the people and skills needed to maintain and keep military vehicles serviceable are still available in the SA National Defence Force (SANDF) comes from the landward force’s Combat Training Centre (CTC) in Northern Cape.

CTC is home to 101 Field Workshop where mechanics, auto electricians and diesel mechanics along with supporting mechanical skills provided by apprentices and journeymen repaired no less than 60 vehicles in a calendar month. This achievement in March is reported by Lieutenant Selogile Leshago, the unit’s corporate communication officer as “a remarkable stride” to repair and ensure ongoing serviceability of – in many instances – vehicles in service for 30 years and longer.

To mark the 60-vehicle achievement, 101 Field Workshop was honoured with a visit by the Chief Director Force Preparation, Major General Patrick Dube. He thanked the Technical Service Corps (TSC) personnel at Lohathla for a job well done repairing “much-needed military vehicles”.

“This is where prime mission equipment is being repaired for deployment. We rely on you to repair equipment and you must continue to assist us in getting equipment ready. Let us concentrate on what we are here to do and do so to the best to our abilities. In that way, we will restore the dignity of the SA Army to its rightful glory. You are doing a great job,” the two-star is reported as telling the men and women whose black berets sport a prancing stallion and lightning bolt.

It was not all praise with constructive criticism as regards the workshops and he is reported as saying “there is improvement needed”.

On “doing contrary” to technical college teaching, Dube pointed out the occupational health and safety risks and possibilities of injury. He told unit personnel apprentices will in future be moved to 101 – “they must learn from you. I’m coming back to inspect your workshops!”

As a measure – not empirical – the first 10 years of Cuban military technicians and mechanical personnel in South Africa saw over seven thousand seven hundred military vehicles repaired, a presentation to the Joint Standing Committee on Defence (JSCD) said last year. Additionally, Logistics Division Brigadier General BG Mtsweni told parliamentarians, Cubans “inspected” more than 14 000 vehicles.

Defence and Military Veterans Minister Thandi Modise this month (April) told a Parliamentary questioner Project Thusano, the Cuban/South African military technical assistance agreement, would be reviewed when it expired in 2025. Her response indicated some Thusano contracts would not be renewed while others could be extended. She told Russel Cebekhulu of the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) that the terms of the contract are definitely going to be reviewed to the best interest of both parties.

Tata Nexon EV fire in Pune: Repairs at unauthorized workshop led to thermal incident - India Today

By India Today Auto Desk: Tata Motors today said that the fire incident involving the Tata Nexon EV in the Katraj area of Pune, Maharashtra, on April 16 was caused due to repairs in the vehicle at an unauthorized workshop. No passenger was hurt in the incident.

A detailed investigation of the Nexon EV fire incident was conducted by a team of technical experts.

    advertisement

In an official statement, the homegrown auto major said that the concerned Nexon EV recently underwent repairs, wherein its left headlamps were replaced at an unauthorized workshop.

"Over an extended period of time, this led to a short and trapped heat. The fitment and repair process, at the unauthorized workshop, had shortcomings, which caused an electrical malfunction in the headlamp area leading to the thermal incident. The affected area is concentrated only in the zone of repairs carried out. We remain engaged with the customer to offer all the support needed," Tata Motors said.

The company also appealed to all the customers to get the fitments done at authorized Tata Motors workshops to avoid similar incidents.

"Our appeal to all customers – the automotive market is constantly evolving with new technologies and modern electronic parts, both in ICE cars and EVs, which requires trained craftsmanship. For the safety of our users, we urge our customers to get their vehicles fitted with on-spec components, accessories, spare parts at authorized Tata Motors workshops, to avoid any such incidents," Tata Motors said.

The model involved in the fire incident was a Nexon EV XZ+ and was fairly new, being registered in July 2022, as revealed by the government data.

This is at least the second incident of a Tata Nexon EV catching fire. In June 2022, a Nexon EV burst into flames in Mumbai, Maharashtra. However, no occupant was injured.

The Tata Nexon EV price starts at Rs 14.49 lakh (ex-showroom), with the range-topping variant available for Rs 19.54 lakh (ex-showroom).

The lower-spec Nexon EV Prime has a 30.2kWh lithium-ion battery mated to a 129PS/245Nm electric motor, while the higher-spec Nexon EV Max has a 40.5kWh lithium-ion battery paired with a 143PS/250Nm electric motor. The claimed range is 312km Nexon EV Prime and 453km for the Nexon EV Max.

Tata Motors recently launched the Nexon EV Max Dark edition with new features like a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, TFT HD display, over 180 voice commands, HD rearview camera, and wireless Android Auto and Apple Carplay.

Archaeologists identify a Palaeolithic bone tool workshop in Spanish cave - HeritageDaily

A study of a partition made from rocks in the El Mirón Cave has led to archaeologists identifying it as a Palaeolithic bone tool workshop.

El Mirón Cave is a cave system in the upper Asón River valley, located in the Cantabria region of northern Spain.

The cave was first discovered in 1903, leading to a series of excavations over the century revealing evidence of Palaeolithic hunter-gatherer activity, and the discovery of the “Red Lady of El Mirón”, a skeleton from the Upper Palaeolithic which was found coated with ochre, a red iron-based pigment.

In a paper published in the journal Antiquity, researchers from the University of New Mexico (UNM) have suggested that a partition made from rocks in the rear of the cave was actually used for bone tool manufacturing around 20,000-years-ago.

The cave contains hearths, pits, and other small structures, that provide evidence of Palaeolithic home-making, with the partition indicating that is was used for the working of animal bones and of stones to make tools based on the discarded bone material found around the rock feature.

Associate Professor of Archaeology at UNM, Emily Lena Jones, said: “Our hypothesis was that if this feature was used by the inhabitants, the discard around it should show clear patterning. Our analysis showed that this was the case. The stone alignment does seem to have been used in some way, and probably not just to isolate a trash heap.

It seems more likely that it is associated with a bone-working area. While probably most of the bones were from animals that initially did provide food for people, by the time the bone fragments were discarded in Level 115 of the cave, they’d also have been broken in ways that suggest people were making tools out of them,” added Jones.

According to the researchers, this discovery adds to the small list of known examples of Palaeolithic hunter-gatherer structures in caves, which are often associated with religious or ceremonial activities, but the area in El Mirón looks like it demarcates a working area for a bone tool workshop.

Special education law workshop draws parents from across the state and country - KOMU 8

COLUMBIA - Parents from across the state and country came to learn about special education law at a workshop hosted by the Missouri Disability Empowerment Foundation (MoDE) Friday at The Crossing in Columbia.

James Gallini, an attorney specializing in special education law, shared practical information on Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and 504 plans through his "Advocate University" coursework.

“When we started Advocate University, [we wanted] to raise the level of expertise and understanding with regards to special education, law and civil rights law as it applies to public education,” Gallini said.

Many in-person special education workshops haven’t rebounded since the pandemic, according to Gallini.

“I think it enhances learning to do these things in person, and also be able to advocate and meet other families that are just as impacted as you are in these areas,” Gallini said. “So being able to get those going again, post COVID, I'm excited about it, and I'm glad we had this opportunity.”

Organizers said 55 people attended the workshop in person and over 40 people were on the provided Zoom. Many of the attendees were parents with special needs children.

Nebraska resident Nichole Malmkar is a mom of three children, ages 18, 16 and 11. She said she’s had to travel out of state numerous times to access the appropriate resources for her three special needs children.

“I don't know if there's ever been a special education law person that has done any speaking in Nebraska since I've been on this journey with my children for about five years now,” Malmkar said. “So I've had to travel out of state. This isn't the first time I've traveled out of state for these types of conferences.”

She said she hopes to take what she learns Friday back to Nebraska.

“I've had to learn about the law. We've had to pay for a lot of intervention for our children,” Malmkar said. “And so I would hope to eventually advocate well enough so that they can get their needs met in school rather than having to do everything after school.”

Felicia Ford is an attorney and mother of three special needs children, one 10-year-old boy and two 7-year-old boys. She traveled from St. Louis for the workshop because she says learning opportunities like this are rare.

“Even as a practicing attorney, I do not get the opportunity to come learn about special education to this extent, the special education law and the processes,” Ford said. “So this has been so amazing for us parents who just need to know what we need to do to advocate for our children, our families.”

She said navigating the IEP process for her three kids has been difficult even with her legal background. She said she thinks the lack of resources and information may lead some children to continue to have unaddressed issues in the classroom.

“I have friends who work in other districts, and they work with children as educators,” Ford said. “And, they tell me stories of just how difficult it is for parents to get support to make sure that the children get resources.”

MoDE will hold a special education station clinic at the Missouri River Regional Library Art Gallery in Jefferson City on April 22. Attorneys and special education advocates will be available to discuss IEP and 504 plans free of charge.

Material Cultures’ workshops launch - Wallpaper*

London-based Material Cultures' workshops are serious about the studio's commitment to sustainable architecture. The young practice, founded by Summer Islam, Paloma Gormley and George Massoud in 2019, is pioneering in its ways of championing meaningful progress towards a post-carbon built environment. Its USP? Proposing careful thought in architecture’s material selection and construction methods, and an emphasis on low intensity, locally sourced, natural options, drawing on each project’s context.

‘Construction and maintenance presently accounts for over 40 per cent of total UK carbon emissions. Eleven per cent of the industry’s carbon emissions are derived from the manufacture of materials. Current housing models depend on large amounts of high-energy materials, mass-manufactured overseas, with short lifespans. If we are to halt the progress of ecological breakdown we need to radically rethink the logic of current construction methods, the materials we use and our approach to growth. In doing so it is likely that we will need to both recover some of our forgotten technologies and develop entirely new forms of architectural language,’ says the team.

Launching the Material Cultures workshops series

The trio’s newest venture is a series of workshops, conceived in collaboration with writer and builder Caitlin McNamara, that challenges existing construction practices. It is a great example of their passionate yet practical approach and tackles head-on the lack of options in the sector when it comes to working towards a low-carbon environment.

‘When I was learning to build, I struggled to find the type of education that I wanted,’ says McNamara, who is leading the Material Cultures project. ‘Construction colleges were affordable, easy to access and taught me practical plastering skills but I was often the only woman in the room and natural or low-carbon materials were rarely on the curriculum. Courses run by heritage organisations specialised in the materials that I wanted to learn but were often expensive and in locations that were difficult to access.’

Material Cultures at the Brick House Build

(Image credit: Courtesy of Material Cultures)

She met with Material Cultures in 2022 through her work as a lime-plasterer, and they started to develop a new educational programme together, delving into both the theory and practice of working with natural and low-embodied carbon construction materials. The result is Material Cultures’ Building Workshops, a range of a-few-days-long sessions (some on weekdays and some on weekends, for maximum flexibility) at HG Matthews Brickworks, a 100-year-old traditional brickworks (and the first UK brickmakers to use biomass for brick drying).

The courses are taught by experts (50 per cent of whom are women) and will encompass live-build elements on a structure designed and constructed in 2019 over the course of seven weeks as part of the Central Saint Martins MArch Programme. They are also designed to be highly inclusive, addressed to people of all abilities and backgrounds – be they seasoned professionals, or absolute beginners. Additionally, 25% of the tickets are subsidised.

The first workshops, released for April 2023, focus on building with hemp and lime; more are to follow in May, exploring clay and straw. Meanwhile, further dates are yet to be announced for materials such as lime rendering, lime wash and clay rendering.

‘The interest in and demand for our workshops has been overwhelming so it turns out other people wanted this too,’ McNamara says. ‘Our hope is that these workshops shake open opportunities to generate new forms of culture in the construction industry. Climate breakdown is indiscriminate and universal so educational opportunities to prepare for and mitigate its effects must be available to all.’
